Driving Security Forward: SecureClaw’s Audit of Network Devices, VAPT, and SAST for a Global Car Manufacturer

This client is a multinational automobile manufacturer known for its innovative vehicles, global presence, and commitment to sustainable mobility.

Cyber Threat Landscape

Car manufacturing companies face a growing range of cyber threats due to the heavy reliance on interconnected operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems. Attackers often target production lines with ransomware to halt operations, or exploit supply chain vulnerabilities to infiltrate through third-party vendors. Intellectual property, such as design files and proprietary manufacturing processes, is also at risk from data breaches and espionage. Insecure cloud configurations and weak access controls can expose sensitive employee and customer data, while DDoS attacks may disrupt connected services. These threats not only jeopardize manufacturing continuity but also risk financial loss and reputational damage if not addressed with strong cybersecurity measures.

Project Details

For this client, SecureClaw carried out a comprehensive security engagement that combined Static Application Security Testing (SAST) with Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT). The objective was to ensure that their applications remained resilient against evolving cyber threats.

By conducting a thorough network devices security audit as part of VAPT, SecureClaw helped the car manufacturer identify vulnerabilities across routers, switches, firewalls, and other critical infrastructure components. The audit ensured that configurations were hardened, unnecessary services were disabled, and access controls were properly enforced. It also revealed potential exposure points that could have been exploited by attackers, allowing the company to remediate risks before they impacted operations.

Through SAST, we analyzed the source code to identify hidden flaws early in the development cycle, while VAPT simulated real-world attack scenarios to uncover vulnerabilities in the deployed environment. This structured audit cycle - assessment, remediation, and retest - allowed us to not only highlight risks but also verify that corrective measures were effective.

By repeating the cycle until all critical issues were resolved, the client gained confidence that their applications were secure, compliant, and better protected against potential breaches. This engagement reinforced their overall security posture and provided assurance to both internal stakeholders and end users.
